Christian Emmerich secured his first Mass Golf title with a birdie on the third playoff hole, defeating Will Kannegieser to win the 43rd Massachusetts Mid-Amateur Championship at Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton.
The 25-year-old Kernwood Country Club member, who has competed in Mass Golf events since he was 15, closed with a 4-over 74 to finish at 3-over 213 (69-70-74).
