Lytham Trophy: S. African Lawrence by 1

LYTHAM, ST. ANNE'S, England (May 4, 2014) -- South African Thriston Lawrence has claimed the 2014 Lytham Trophy. Lawrence, who recently defended his South African Amateur title, shot rounds of 72-69-72-68 to win by a shot over Darius Van Driel of the Netherlands. Lawrence used superb second and final-round efforts to distance himself from the field and hang on over Van Driel (66), Bradley Neil (69) and Gary Hurley (69), who finished second, third and fourth, respectively, and made hard surges in Sunday's final round. The 72-hole international competition began in the early 1960s and is played solely at Royal Lytham, sight of the 2015 Walker Cup.
