LSU, Algot Kleen sweeps the titles at Knoxville Collegiate

Kleen, who spent his first three seasons of collegiate golf at East Tennessee State, won the individual title by four shots

LSU and Algot Kleen swept the team and individual titles at the 2024 Knoxville Collegiate at Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn. 

In the team competition, LSU barely eclipsed Ole Miss, finishing at 23-under and winning by two shots with rounds of 268-269-280. Ole Miss finished in solo second place at 21-under with rounds of 269-267-283.

The final round played much harder for teams, as LSU shot its highest score by 11 shots, and Ole Miss shot its highest score by 14 shots. 

None of the other schools were close to the top two, as host school Tennessee and South Carolina finished T3 at 4-under, and Mississippi State finished in solo fifth place at 1-over.

In the individual competition, new LSU transfer Algot Kleen, who spent his first three collegiate seasons at East Tennessee State, finished 12-under with rounds of 66-65-67 to win by four shots.

Cameron Tankersley of Ole Miss finished in solo second place at 8-under, and Jake Peacock of South Florida, Lance Simpson of Tennessee, Michael La Sasso of Ole Miss, and Garrett Endicott of Mississippi State all finished T3 at 6-under.

Kye Meeks of Ole Miss finished in solo seventh place at 5-under, and Jackson Herrington of Tennessee, fellow ETSU transfer and LSU Tiger Matthew Dodd-Berry, and Cooper Smith of South Florida finished T8 at 4-under to round out the top ten.

Kleen is currently ranked No. 74 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings and was a selection to the 2023 All-Southern Conference team and a PING All-Region selection.
