Lampson went 2 over in the five holes of the final round, then played his last 13 holes at 5-under par. He started off the first round by grabbing the lead at 5-under par and then played his last 13 holes in 9-under par during the second round en route to a 65. Lampson will begin his senior season at local Grand Canyon University this fall.
Behind Ramos at 9 under, Ignacio Arcaya was third at 8 under with consistent rounds of 68-67. San Diego resident Steve Sugimoto was fourth at 5 under followed by Christian Banke in fifth another shot back.
Mark and Maverick Pavletich, of Bakersfield, Calif., were the rare father-duo to compete in this week’s Sizzler Amateur. The event was extra special as the practice round was held on Father’s Day. The elder Pavletich shot 75-75-72 (T-33) with son Maverick besting dad at 69-71-73 (T-6).
