Kyle McClatchie wins title match of WP Amateur

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (April 29, 2017) - On Saturday at Westlake Golf Club Kyle McClatchie won the Western Province Amateur with a 4&3 victory over Luca Filippi. McClatchie won the the first two holes of the 36-hole match and never trailed as he wrapped things up on the 33rd hole with a winning par. Filippi did have his moments as he pulled even with a birdie on No. 8 and after finishing the first 18 down two he won the opening hole of the second 18 to pull a bit closer. However, on this day McClatchie was just to much and early in the second round he pulled away winning Nos. 3-7 consecutively to jump the lead to 6 up. McClatchie did birdie the 4th hole during the run but he was also aided by four Filippi bogeys. McClatchie, the winner of the 2017 North West Amateur Open, defeated Marco Steyn 2 up in the semifinals while Filippi advanced with a 2&1 semis victory over Malcolm Mitchell.
