OAKMONT, PA (June 19, 2016) -- Jon Rahm, the lone amateur to make it to the weekend, completed his first U.S. Open with an even-par final round 70 at Oakmont Country Club to finish 7-over. Rahm began his round at 11:50 a.m. and the Arizona State product provided the large Sunday galleries with some early fireworks on his way to a tie for 23rd. Rahm did start his round with a bogey on No. 1, before rolling in his first birdie of the day on the 2nd. On the ensuing hole Rahm drained a long distance birdie putt for his first birdie of the day. Following a par on the 4th, Rahm knocked his approach shot on No. 5 stiff leading to a tap-in birdie. The final birdie of the run came on the 6th from over 20 feet and Rahm punctuated the putt with a pump of the right fist. After two bogeys to close the nine, Rahm posted a 1-under 34. During the course of his final nine, Rahm carded two more birdies for a total of six, a bogey and a double-bogey to finish in 1-over 35. Rahm struggled in the first round with a 76 but played solidly in each of the next three rounds with scores of 69-72-70. Up next for Rahm is this week's PGA Tour Quicken Loans National at Congressional Golf Club. ROUND THREE RECAP Jon Rahm continued his strong play in Saturday's third round. Starting the round on the 10th tee at Oakmont Country Club, Rahm shot a 2-over 72 and is currently 7-over and tied for 46th. Rahm, the only two-time Ben Hogan Award winner, birdied No. 10 to kick start his round, but the highlight of the day came on the par-5 674 yard 12th. Standing in the fairway after laying up with his second shot Rahm was able to spin his third shot in for eagle. At the time it moved the Arizona State product to 3-over. Overall Rahm tallied two birdies, an eagle and six bogeys. Rahm will tee off in the final round at 11:50 a.m. and he will be playing alongside Chase Parker.
