Jeremy Sisson finishes off wire-to-wire victory at Dixie Men's Amateur

The Nebraska Cornhusker rides strong first round to the winner's circle at Eagle Trace

Jeremy Sisson finished off a wire-to-wire victory on Sunday to win the Dixie Amateur at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla.

Sisson, who plays collegiately at the University of Nebraska, posted a 4-under score of 284 which was good for a one-stroke victory over Tristan Wieland while mid-amateur Jose Vega finished two back at 2-under 286.

Sisson took a one-shot lead into the final round over Wieland, Vega and defending champion Evan Myers and with no one in the chase pack able to mount a Sunday charge, the Skaneateles, N.Y. native shot a 1-under round of 71 to close out the biggest win of his career.

Wieland was able to draw even with Sisson after making a birdie on the 15th to get to 2-under on the day, but missed his chance to force a playoff after finishing with a bogey on the last.

In a week where Eagle Trace was particularly stingy, Sisson never relinquished his spot atop the leaderboard following an opening round of 3-under 69 on Thursday when he made four birdies in a four-hole stretch.

Sisson joined the Nebraska men’s golf program after spending his freshman season at Arkansas in 2019-20. He previously won the 2017 Golfweek International Junior Invitational.

Sisson's title caps off a strong 2022 fall season for the senior. In 11 rounds of action for Nebraska this fall, Sisson accumulated a 72.73 stroke average.
