Jack Singh-Brar lifts the Lytham Trophy

Jack Singh-Brar broke free of a tie after 36-holes to win by two shots at Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club

LYTHAM SAINT ANNES, UK (May 7, 2017) - After the long 36-hole final day of the Lytham Trophy it was Jack Singh-Brar who lifted the trophy. Playing at Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club, Singh-Brar finished 8-over and two shots in front of runner-up Charlie Strickland. After beginning the day tied for the lead Singh-Brar closed with rounds of 72-75 to take the lead alone in the third round before closing it out in the fourth round. His only birdie of the final round came on the 17th hole and it helped seal the deal. The victory was Singh-Brar's first career AmateurGolf.com ranking victory and it comes on the heels of four previous point earning finishes already this season. Strickland was second at 10-over, Jake Burnage took third at 11-over while Pierre Junior Verlaar and Simon Richardson shared fourth at 12-over. 36-HOLE RECAP At the midway point of the Lytham Trophy Jeff Wright and Jack Singh-Brar are tied for the lead. Both players will begin Sunday's 36-hole final day 1-over and ahead by three shots. Playing at Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club, Wright moved into the lead by following up a first round round 4-over 74 with a 3-under 67 in the second round. The round included six birdies and three bogeys. After beginning his round with a 1-over 35, Wright flipped the script on the second nine as he carded a flawless 4-under 32 that was headlined by consecutive birdies on Nos. 11 and 12. For Singh-Brar it has been rounds of 68-73 thus far. On Saturday Singh-Brar was able to keep himself in the mix despite a double-bogey and two bogeys thanks to a pair of birdies. Simon Richardson is third at 4-over, Charlie Strickland is fourth at 6-over while three others are sharing fifth at 7-over.
