International Women’s Four-Ball: Gaby Coello and Alexa Hammer secure comeback win

Coello and Hammer overcame a three-shot deficit entering the final round to win by one-shot

Gaby Coello & Alexa Hammer from West Palm Beach, Fla., shot 5-under 139 to capture the 77th International Women’s Four-Ball Championship by one shot at the Wanderers Club in Wellington, Fla.

This victory marks the first time Coello and Hammer have claimed the Women’s International Four-Ball title together. Notably, it also represents Hammer's second win at the tournament, with her first win dating back to 2011.

In the final round, Coello & Hammer entered trailing last year's runner-up team of Sarah Spicer and Jessica Spicer by three strokes. However, they went low with a 3-under 69, overcoming the deficit and winning by a shot over the team of Kay Daniel and Linda Jefferey, as well as the Spicer sisters.

Daniel and Jefferey carded rounds of 70-70, joining the Spicer sisters, who had rounds of 67-73, at 4-under 140 for a joint runner-up finish in the tournament.

Despite initial struggles, the Spicer sisters found themselves in contention after reclaiming the lead with a birdie on No. 12. However, both teams faced challenges in the final holes, culminating in a matching 4-under finish.

In a captivating final round, Coello and Hammer surged to the top, finishing tied for first with crucial birdies on Holes No. 16 and 17. The climax came with a dramatic victory as Coello sank a long putt on the last hole.

In the Middle Division, Terrill Samuel and Lisa McGill secured victory by carding rounds of 69-68, boasting a commanding five-shot margin at 7-under 137. Sandie St. Onge and Debbie Mooksang, with rounds of 70-72, secured a runner-up finish at 2-under 142.
