Huddleston Cup at Maridoe: Harvey and Hanzel win titles in inaugural event

Scott Harvey wins the Mid-Amateur title by three, while Doug Hanzel tops Bob Royak on the first playoff hole for the Senior title

The inaugural Huddleston Cup at Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, TX featured a premiere field of 21 Mid-Amateurs and 21 Senior-Amateurs. The tournament was contested June 1-3 over 54-holes of stroke play with perfect weather conditions.

Scott Harvey (67-73-68) paced the field in the Mid-Amateur Division, leading wire-to-wire. 2022 Crump Cup champion Stephen Behr made things interesting, recovering from a first-round 77 with scores of 66-68 to finish with a 211 total. Behr got within a single shot with two holes to play, but after Harvey birdied No. 17, his 208 total gave him a 3-shot victory and the inaugural Mid-Amateur title. Doug Hanzel (70-76-71) and Bob Royak (72-74-71) tied at 217 in the Senior division.

On the first extra hole, Hanzel two-putted from the front of the 18th green, as Royak missed a 12-foot putt to extend the playoff.
