Grapevine Amateur: Avinash Iyer cards a final round 8-under 64 to win

Iyer overcame a three-shot deficit to win by four shots

San Jose State sophomore Avinash Iyer from San Ramon, Calif., shot 13-under with his rounds of 70-69-64 to win the Grapevine Amateur by four shots at Silverado Golf Course in Napa, Calif.

Iyer entered the final round in a tie for third place, having completed his previous rounds with scores of 70-69, reaching a 5-under par total. This placed him three strokes behind Michael Weaver, the 36-hole leader, who had recorded rounds of 66-70, accumulating an 8-under par score. Iyer's eight birdies propelled him up the leaderboard, securing the title with a four-stroke margin over Brady Siravo and William Walsh, who are teammates at Pepperdine.

Siravo and Walsh shot matching totals of 9-under, where Siravo carded rounds of 71-70-66 and Walsh 71-71-65 to finish T2.

Weaver, a former professional golfer and the runner-up at the 2012 U.S. Amateur, recorded a final round of 72 to conclude the tournament, tied for fourth place with Daniel Hayes of England at 8-under.

The tournament saw participation from 102 amateur golfers.
