Georgia dominates Linger Longer Invitational by 21 shots

Carter Loflin’s 18-under performance powered Georgia to a 21-shot victory at the Linger Longer Invitational

Georgia turned the Linger Longer Invitational into a runaway, overwhelming the field with one of the most dominant performances of the college season.

The No. 35 Bulldogs rolled to 48 under 816 at Reynolds Lake Oconee, securing a commanding 21-shot victory in the 20th edition of the event in Eatonton, Georgia. No. 16 Alabama, winner of the 2023 and 2024 editions, finished a distant second at 27 under 837 (278-285-274).

At the center of it all was senior Carter Loflin, who delivered a career-defining week. Loflin fired rounds of 67-67-64 to reach 18-under 198, cruising to a five-shot individual victory and marking his second win of the season following the Hamptons Intercollegiate last fall.

Alabama’s William Jennings provided the closest challenge but finished well back at 13-under 203 (68-66-69), good for solo second.

Georgia’s depth only reinforced its dominance. The Bulldogs placed four players inside the top 15, with junior Grayson Wood leading the supporting cast at T-6 (7-under 209; 65-68-76). Sophomore James Earle finished T-9 at 6-under 210 (74-68-68), while sophomore Matt Moloney added a T-13 finish at 5-under 211 (66-75-70).

Statistically, Georgia separated itself across the board. The Bulldogs led the field in both par-4 (-8) and par-5 scoring (-32) and piled up 75 birdies—eight more than the next-best team.

Loflin was equally dominant individually, topping the field in par-4 scoring at 11-under and sharing the lead in par-5 scoring at 9-under alongside Ohio State’s Joe Wilson IV and Alabama’s Jennings. He also led all players with 19 birdies.
