A year after the tournament was cancelled by Hurricane Irma, Samuel Martinez and Milko Brito beat the field by five shots

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (September 9, 2018) - A year after the tournament had to be cancelled because of the impact of Hurricane Irma, 36 teams gathered at Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club in Coral Gables for the Florida Mid-Senior Four-Ball (South) Championship. Starting the final day one shot behind, the Miami-based team of Samuel Martinez and Milko Brito rode an eagle-three on the 10th hole to a 7-under 64 and a five-shot win. The team of Michael Frederick and Jose Novo grabbed the first-round lead with a 66 but could only manage a 71 in round two, ultimately finishing tied for third. Kevin Schaffel and Joe Shaktman shot a closing 66 to climb into second alone, five shots behind the winners. An eagle-two on the par-four 11th hole was the catalyst for their runner-up finish. Glen Miciotta and Tom Pelegrin also shot 66 on Sunday to pull into a tie or third with Frederick and Novo at 137 (-5).
