Hunter Eichhorn had, perhaps, some unfinished business at the Wisconsin Amateur this week. The Marquette player had the lead for much of this event a year ago only to lose it in the final round with a closing 78 and end up T-4.
Not this year.
Eichhorn had steady rounds of 73-65-69-74 at the GC of Lawsonia’s Links Course in Green Lake, Wis. But it still didn’t come easily this year. Eichhorn was crusing through his final round at even par after four bogeys and four birdies when he doubled the 17th. A par on the 18th was just enough to keep him afloat, and left him at 7 under.
That was one better than Matt Tolan and Philip Johnson, who tied for second.
Eichhorn won the Big East title for Marquette as a freshman in 2018
