OWASSO, Oklahoma (July 18, 2018) -- Austin Eckroat was a man on fire this morning. The 2018 NCAA team champion handled both of his opponents 5&4, shooting a total 14-under-par in the 28 holes that were played.
“I played really well in both matches today. Other than not making every putt I didn’t make any mistakes…Both matches I won a lot of holes early in the match and just played solid from then on,” explained the OSU standout.
If Eckroat, who seems to enjoy playing the Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed Patriot course, can continue to keep up this level of play, he will no doubt be tough to beat regardless of his competitor.
Semifinal play begins Thursday at 8:00 AM ET with Eckroat’s match against the 2017 Oklahoma Stroke Play Champion Brady Richardson. They will be followed by the Cody Burrows vs. Hayden Wood match which tees off at 8:07 with the final match being played immediately after.
