Davey Jude of Kermit, West Virginia, turned a 76 in stroke-play qualifying into a memorable run through the match-play bracket to win the West Virginia Mid-Amateur Championship at the Pines CC in Morgantown, WV.

Jude entered the 32-player bracket as the No. 24 seed, meaning there was little margin for error from the outset. He responded by winning five consecutive matches, with four of those victories coming against players seeded inside the top 10.
