Conor O'Rourke finishes First at West of Ireland Open Qualifying

O'Rourke finished qualifying 2-under and as the winner by a shot over two players tied for second at 1-under

COUNTY SLIGO, Ireland (April 15, 2017) - Despite shooting a 3-over 74 on the second day of stroke play qualifying at the West of Ireland Open Amateur Conor O'Rourke was able to finish atop the standings. O'Rourke finished qualifying 2-under and as the winner by a shot over two players tied for second at 1-under. On a cold first day at County Sligo Golf Club O'Rourke opened with a flawless front nine 5-under 31 as he carded birdies on Nos. 1, 2, 5, 7 and 8. Heading for home O'Rourke birdied twice and bogeyed twice. In the second round O'Rourke got off to a slow start and he was 5-over through 11 holes before battling back down the stretch with 12th, 14th and 18th hole birdies. Jonathan Yates and William Russell tied for second at 1-under, Andrew Hickey was even-par in fourth while John-Ross Galbraith placed fifth at 1-over.
