Collyer repeats at Dunes Medal; Kim wins women's title

Blake Collyer did the hard work in the third round, when he logged a 67 to separate himself from the field

RYE, Australia (Nov. 30, 2018) – Blake Collyer notched his second Dunes Medal victory on Friday, thanks in large part to a gap he created between himself and his chasers in Thursday’s third round. Collyer put up a 5-under 67 to up four shots, and increased that to a five-shot margin of victory at the Dunes Golf Club.

Collyer had rounds of 72-72-67-71 for the tournament, which was good for a 6-under 282 total. Since his Dunes Medal victory, Collyer made headlines in the U.S. with an eleventh-hour ace that secured his win at the W.E. Cole Cotton States in July. Collyer also recently finished T-12 at the New South Wales Open, a professional event. He received big congrats on Twitter on Friday, including from Australian pro Mark Hensby, with whom Collyer was paired in the third round of the New South Wales Open.

Behind Collyer, Konrad Ciupek finished second with a 287 total. Ciupek finished T-9 at the South Australia Amateur Classic and T-7 at the Riversdale Cup earlier this year.

Lukas Michel was third another shot back followed by William Heffernan in fourth another shot behind that.

In the women’s division, Grace Kim had rounds of 78-72-69-73 to log a two-shot win over Rose Zheng. Kim earned recent victories at the Federal Women’s Amateur Open and the Youth Olympic Games and is No. 89 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
