Charleston rode a record-setting start and held firm down the stretch to capture the Hootie Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay.
The Cougars finished at 35-under 829 (265-270-294) to secure a six-shot victory in Awendaw, South Carolina, marking their second team win of the spring following the Wexford Intercollegiate.
Charleston set the tone early, opening with a program-record 23-under 265 and reaching 41-under through 36 holes—also a school best. Tested by windy conditions in the final round, the Cougars did just enough to maintain their advantage against a strong field that included four top-50 teams and six Power 4 programs.
No. 43 South Carolina finished runner-up at 29-under 835 (275-274-286), while defending champion No. 45 Purdue tied for fourth at 16-under 848.
Charleston, meanwhile, placed four players inside the top 10, led by junior Loran Appel, who finished runner-up at 11-under 205 (64-70-71) while also leading the field in birdies (17) and par-3 scoring. He was joined by junior Miles Eubanks (T-3, 10-under 206; 65-67-74), graduate student Nevill Ruiter (T-7, 6-under 210; 67-67-76), and freshman Johan Bredenkamp (T-7, 6-under 210; 71-66-73).
