BYU Wins USF Olympic Intercollegiate

The BYU Cougars capped off a wire-to-wire win at the historic Olympic Club

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (September 13, 2016) -- The historic Lake Course at the Olympic Club played host to the first annual USF Olympic Intercollegiate. Topping the 14-team field with a three round total of 859 (17-over), were the BYU Cougars. The Cougars were led by freshman and Utah state high school champion Rhett Rasmussen who shot rounds of 73, 69, 70 for a 1-under total at the par 71 course. Junior Patrick Fishburn also handled the U.S. Open venue with class, shooting rounds of a 69, 71, and 74 for a tied fifth finish. Last year's West Coast Conference Champions St. Mary's finished runner-up at 867 (15-over) while TCU took third one shot behind them. The individual medalist honors were shared by TCU's Stefano Mazzoli and LMU's Riley Elmes. Both players fired a third-round total of 210 (3-under) which each included a 5-under 66 yesterday's second round.
