Bobcat Invitational: Georgia Southwestern cruises to six-shot win in shortened event

A weather-shortened finish didn’t slow Georgia Southwestern, as Jordan Jones' seven-shot individual win powered a comfortable win

Georgia Southwestern, ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division II, claimed a six-shot victory at the shortened event, finishing at 3 over 563 (284-279) after the final round was cancelled due to weather.

The win marks the program’s second of the season following its triumph at the Oldfield Classic, and continues a strong run at this event, with Georgia Southwestern now winning three of the last four editions, including 2023 and 2024.

No. 22 USC Aiken and No. 1 Grand Valley State shared runner-up honours at 9 over 569, both posting identical rounds of 287-282. Defending champions No. 11 North Georgia finished T-11 at 26-over in the 14-team field.

Sophomore Jordan Jones led the way for Georgia Southwestern, delivering a dominant performance to win individual honours by seven shots at 8-under 132 (68-64). It was the standout effort of the week, with his second-round 64 separating him from the field.

Four players shared second place at 1 under 139: West Florida senior Cooper Tendick (72-67), Eckerd sophomore Reggie Fear (69-70), USC Beaufort freshman Octavio Laurent (71-68) and USC Aiken freshman Cameron Baez (71-68).

Georgia Southwestern placed three players inside the top 10. Alongside Jones, junior Sam Brown finished T-6 at even par 140 (69-71), while redshirt freshman Stefan Rojas secured a T-8 finish at 2 over (72-70).
