Biarritz Cup: Emma Falcher and Louis Bonte emerge winners

University of Georgia sophomore Emma Falcher won her first title of 2024 at home

Emma Falcher and Louis Bonte, both from France, triumphed in the ladies' and men's categories, respectively, at the Biarritz Cup. The tournament took place in Biarritz, approximately 800 km from Paris, the host city for the 2024 Olympics.

In the ladies' category, Emma Falcher, a sophomore at Georgia and a recent transfer from the University of South Florida (USF), claimed victory with a total score of 9-under 267, narrowly winning by one shot. Falcher posted impressive rounds of 63-68-68-68. Spain's Lucia Iraola finished as the runner-up at 8-under 268, with rounds of 67-65-66-70 on the par-69 course.

Entering the final round, Falcher was tied for second at 9-under, trailing Iraola by one stroke. Iraola struggled in the windy conditions and drier greens, shooting 1-over 70. Meanwhile, Falcher maintained her consistency with a third consecutive round of 68 to secure the win.

At USF, she participated in 11 tournaments for the Bulls, achieving a season scoring average of 73.81. She notably recorded a low round of 66 during the second round of the Glass City Invitational in September 2023.

In the men's category, Louis Bonte secured victory with rounds of 66-62-65-70, achieving a total score of 13-under 263 and winning by a two-stroke margin. Yann Ferrando and Sacha Ruiz tied for second place with identical total scores of 11-under 265. Ferrando posted rounds of 63-66-70-66, while Ruiz recorded the tournament's lowest round with a 61, followed by rounds of 68-63-73.
