Akshay Anand of Redmond, Wash., put together three rounds in the 60s to earn low amateur honors at the Northwest Open Invitational at Sunriver Resort’s Woodlands Course.

The recent Northwestern graduate posted rounds of 69-65-68 to finish alone in fifth at 14-under 202, three shots behind champion Preston Bebich.

Anand made his biggest move in the second round with a 7-under 65 before closing with a 68 to secure the top amateur finish in a field featuring professionals and many of the Pacific Northwest’s leading amateurs.

Two more amateurs finished just behind him.

Davis Hartwell of Klamath Falls, Ore., an incoming freshman at Oregon State, carded rounds of 67-70-67 to finish tied for sixth at 12-under 204. He was joined by Owen Davis-Piger of Eugene, Ore., a junior at UC Irvine, who posted 65-68-71.

PGA professional Preston Bebich won the overall title at 17-under 199 following rounds of 64-69-66. Daniel Campbell (66-70-64) and Colin Inglis (66-68-66) shared second at 16-under 200, while Blake Snyder finished fourth at 15-under 201.

The championship featured 120 players, including 37 amateurs. Eighteen amateurs survived the 36-hole cut, with Anand, Hartwell and Davis-Piger all going on to finish inside the overall top six.
