Avondale Amateur: Callan O'Reilly rallies to victory

Pennant Hill's Callan O'Reilly shot a final round 68 to take the Avondale Amateur Medal by two strokes

PYMBLE, Australia (Feb. 11, 2012) -- Starting his day one stroke back tied for third, Callan O'Reilly of Pennant Hills rallied to a final round 68 to take the Avondale Amateur Medal title. O'Reilly finished at 207 (68-71-68), two strokes ahead of Jordan Zunic of Bonnie Doon and second round co-leader Michael Williams of St. Michaels who both ended up at 209. The other second round co-leader William Flitcroft of Royal Sydney, shot a final round 73 for a total 211 and finished alone in fourth. Theodore Coroneo of The Lakes had the low round of the day with a 67 and moved from the middle of pack to tied for 8th. Callan O'Reilly has played some great golf in the last month. Just two weeks ago he finished in a tie for third at the Lake Macquarie Amateur and last week he lost on the 19th hole in the semifinals of the New South Wales Amateur. The Avondale Amateur Medal has been played at the Avondale Golf Club for over 50 years and is a part of the Golf New South Wales Vardon Series.
