Argentine Stroke Play Championship: Brady McKinlay dominates the field

The Utah Valley Senior McKinlay went wire-to-wire to win by 15 shots, shooting 23-under.

Utah Valley senior Brady McKinlay scored 23-under par with his rounds of 62-67-66-34 over the course of 63 holes to win the Argentine Stroke Play Championship at Martindale Country Club in the capital city of Buenos Aires in Argentina.

The final round was played over nine holes, where McKinlay shot 34 to win by a huge 15-shot margin over Erich Fortlage of Paraguay, who finished 8-under par with his rounds of 65-74-70-35 to finish as the runners-up in the competition.

Just last week, McKinlay won the fourth Tailhade Cup for Canada with his teammate Felix Bouchard, which was also played in Argentina.

McKinlay entered the final round with a massive 14-shot lead and added a 34 in the final round, which included birdies on holes No. 3, 6, and 7 and a bogey on No. 4 to finish at 23-under par. He dominated the tournament from the beginning after a solid start with a 62, which included a clean scorecard with 10 birdies. Subsequent rounds of 67 and 66 solidified his win, culminating in a memorable two-week stint in the South American country.

The Canadian was also named the winner of the Argentine Youth Championship, which is held in parallel with the National Championship for Strikes.

Luca Gallingani, representing his home country of Argentina, shot 72-69-69-35 to finish third at 7-under par.

Maria Olivero wins her 11th title

Maria Olivero, hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, maintained her championship prowess by carding an even-par total with rounds of 73-72 and 35 across 45 challenging holes of competitive golf. This stellar performance allowed her to successfully defend her Argentine Stroke Play Women’s Championship title, clinching an impressive 11th trophy and setting a noteworthy record.

Malena Castro finished second with her total score of 7-over par, following her rounds of 75-76-36.

In the previous year, Maria dominated with a 5-under par total, securing victory with a commanding six-shot lead over Iara Martin. In the current edition, Martin claimed a tied-3rd finish, recording a total score of 12-over par.
