Amateur Devon Bling aces No. 7 in Masters Par 3 Contest

Dare we say it: Devon Bling will be taking home some bling in his first trip to Augusta National

The Masters hasn’t even started, but UCLA sophomore Devon Bling, the U.S. Amateur runner-up, has guaranteed himself some crystal. Playing in Wednesday’s Par-3 Contest at Augusta National, Bling made a hole-in-one at No. 7. All tournament-week eagles are famously rewarded with a piece of crystal.

That’s right, Bling is taking home the bling.

The 19-year-old didn’t have a lot to say during his run at the U.S. Amateur at Pebble Beach, and wasn’t a particularly dramatic player. That didn’t stop him from celebrating on Wednesday.

Bling will play with Trevor Immelman and Martin Kaymer, two major champions, for the first two rounds at Augusta National.

So far in his sophomore season, Bling has had three top-20 finishes. His last tournament before Augusta National was also his best tournament. Bling logged rounds of 69-66-67 at Chambers Bay, the 2015 U.S. Open venue, in the Seattle University Redhawk Invitational last week. He finished T-2 behind teammate Hidetoshi Yoshihara.
