56-Year Old Greg Condon wins the NMWT Amateur

With the win Condon earns a spot on the Sun Country Amateur Golf Association team in the upcoming Pacific Coast Amateur

SANDIA PARK, NM (June 25, 2017) - It's not every day that a 56-year old can hold off the field and claim his region's top amateur championship. But, that day was today as Greg Condon outlasted 7,200 yards of Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club and 35 other elite amateurs from the area to win the New Mexico - West Texas Amateur.

The Monte Vista, Colo., resident held off a late charge from Santa Fe, N.M.'s Ben Albin who fired a final round, four-under par 68 which was the low round for the tournament. In the end, Condon's rounds of 73, 70 and 70 snuck past the Notre Dame men's golf team member to grab his second NMWT Am at three-under par.

By virtue of his win, Condon also earned an automatic exemption to play on the Sun Country Amateur Golf Association team that will head to Chambers Bay Golf Club to compete in the 2017 Pacific Coast Amateur.
