Pepperell Wins Portuguese International Amateur

Englishman Eddie Pepperell won the 81st Portuguese International Amateur at the Montado Golf Resort in Palmela Portugal.
Algés, Portugal (Feb. 20, 2011) -- Englishman Eddie Pepperell today won the 81st Portuguese International Amateur at the Montado Golf Resort. The Englishman, 20, led from start to finish to win with A total of 209 strokes (68-69-72), seven-under-par-72.
Frenchman Jean-Pierre Verselin was second with 210 (70-73-67), while Frenchman Edouard Espana (74-73-64), who had the best score of the day, shared third place with Italian Domenico Geminiani (71-73-67) and Dutchman Daan Huizing (72-70-69), all with a total of 211 strokes.
"I felt confident enough through the first two days. Finally, it was a matter of ensuring the victory even though course was playing difficult. Basically, I am very pleased to have finished the job in a positive way, "said Pepperell, who will turn pro as early as mid-2011.
