Le Goff shot a tournament best 4-under 66 in the final round to top Tom Osbourne by one shot

Hugo Le Goff of France shot a final round 4-under 66 to propel up the leaderboard and narrowly win the 2025 Lytham Trophy at Royal Lytham & St Annes in Lytham St. Annes, England.

Le Goff got off to a slow start with an opening round 2-over 72, but he followed that up with rounds of 75-72-66 to finish 5-over and win by one shot over Tom Osbourne. Osbourne made a birdie on No. 17 to get to 6-over, but Le Goff made birdies on holes No. 17 and 18 to pull ahead of Osbourne.

The standout from France is having a stellar 2025. He won the 2025 Spanish International Amateur in early March and now the Lytham Trophy. He defeated Filippo Ponzano 5 and 3 in the final match of the Spanish International. He is currently ranked No. 128 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings.

Osbourne finished in solo second place at 6-over. Matt Roberts, Andrew Davidson, Matthew McClean, and Max Hopkins all finished T3 at 8-over to round out the top five.

All players played 18 holes on Friday and Saturday, and then the field was cut to the top 40 and ties, and the remaining players played 36 holes on Sunday.

HISTORY

In the early 1960s, some of the senior Members of the Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club felt a gap in the amateur golfing calendar and the need for a major 72-hole scratch competition. The English Golf Union helped launch the event and select entrants. The Scottish, Irish, Welsh, and County Unions and various eminent players were approached for support. All gave it willingly, and so was born the Lytham Trophy.

It is held each year over the Bank Holiday Weekend at the beginning of May. It is now played solely at Royal Lytham, with one round on Friday and Saturday and the final two rounds for those who have made the cut on Sunday.

Every winner takes away a replica of the handsome "Sputnick" trophy donated by Members' subscriptions. All have been the highest quality international golfers, and many have gone on to be successful Professionals.

The entry is now of the highest caliber from all over the UK and Europe, and in recent years, from all over Europe.
