Jimenez takes the individual lead and is leading Utah as the Utes lead in the team competition by six shots

It is safe to say Utah's Sergio Jimenez brought his best golf to Hawaii.

After shooting 59 in a practice round earlier in the week, Jimenez holds the 36-hole lead heading into the final round of the 2025 John Burns Intercollegiate at The Ocean Course at Hokuala in Lihue, Hawaii.

No one has broken 60 in college golf competitions. The previous course record was 62. Jimenez is currently ranked No. 216 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings.

Jimenez has carded rounds of 67-65 to get to 8-under and lead the field by two shots. He followed up a first-round 3-under 67 with a second-round 5-under 65 and has carded 12 birdies, four bogeys, an eagle and a double bogey.

Zach Little of UNLV, Emil Nielsen of Santa Clara, and Gabriel Palacios of Utah are T2 at 6-under, two shots back of Jimenez.

Jack Cantlay of Long Beach State, the little brother of eight-time winner PGA Tour winner Patrick, is in solo fifth place at 5-under to round out the top five.

In the team competition, Utah is 15-under and leads by six shots. The Utes have carded rounds of 273-272 to jump in front of the field.

Long Beach State jumped five spots up the leaderboard after a first-round 6-over 286 with a tournament-best second-round 15-under 265.

UNLV is in solo third place at 8-under, Santa Clara is in solo fourth place at 7-under, and BYU is in solo fifth place at even-par to round out the top five.
