Keilch used a stellar tournament-low tying final round of 7-under 64 to secure the comeback win
Robby Keilch of Newport Beach, Calif., used a tournament-low tying final round of 7-under 64 to win the Agave Amateur at Shadow Hills Golf Club in Indio, Calif.
Keilch pulled away from the field and shot 16-under to secure a five-shot win.
Keilch, a junior on the Sonoma State University golf team, came into the final round in second place and one shot behind Benjamin Scott of Manhattan Beach, Calif. Keilch took the lead early in the final round, birdieing holes No. 5, 6, and 7.
Keilch was bogey-free the rest of the day en route to the 7-under 64. Keilch took advantage of the par-3s, birdieing four of the five par-3s at Shadow Hills. Nathan Tseng of Fullerton, Calif., and Sihao Cong of Temecula, Calif., finished T2 at 11-under and five shots back of Keilch. Max Margolis of Rancho Mirage, Calif., finished in solo fourth place at 10-under.
“It means a lot," Keilch said. "I would say I played the par-5s really well and was super patient. Just did my best to stay in the moment all week and I think did a really good job of that. It gives me a lot of confidence that I know I can win. And hopefully building off of that, doing it again during the season.”
