After 18 holes of golf at the 2024 Pacific Grove City Championship, presented by Callaway Golf at Pacific Grove Golf Links in Pacific Grove, Calif., it is anyone's tournament.

Five golfers are tied for the lead in the Championship Division, and 15 golfers are within two shots of the lead.

Ben Friedman of Mill Valley, Calif., William Chang of Danville, Calif., AJ Fitzgerald of Salinas, Calif., Gerad Matthew Lee of Cupertino, Calif., and Akira Ransi are all tied for first place at 2-under. Friedman and Ransi were both 4-under through 16 holes, but both made bogey on Holes No. 8 and 9 (they started on Hole No. 10) to finish 2-under.

Hartej Grewal of Pleasanton, Calif., Jimmy Jea of San Francisco, Calif., and Ian Vodopich of Danville, Calif., are T6 at 1-under and just one shot back of the leading group.

Seven golfers are T9 at even par and are two shots back of the leaders.

In the Senior Championship Division, Andrew Gabelman of Barrington, Ill., and Daniel O'Connor of San Francisco, Calif., are tied for first place at 2-under. Peter Wood of Santa Cruz, Calif., and David Burroughs of El Dorado Hills, Calif., are T3 at 1-under and one shot back of the lead.

Gabelman won the San Francisco City Senior Championship in 2021 and played in the 2006 U.S. Amateur. Gabelman also leads the Super Senior Division.

In the Mid-Amateur Division, Jimmy Jea leads by one shot at 1-under. Ian Fisher, Alexander Pangelinan, and Christopher Kuester are all T2 at even par.

Rori Fanning of Valencia, Calif., is the low women's scorer through the opening round at 5-over.

Pacific Grove Golf Links offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, Lovers Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond, and Asilomar's natural sand dunes. Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nine holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style. The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Golf Links.
