The Championship gets underway at Daniel Island Club in Charleston, S.C. from July 24-29.
There are 33 countries and 40 states represented in the 2023 U.S. Junior Amateur, including Puerto Rico. This is the second-largest field in the 75 years of the championship.
THE FIELD
There are many top-ranked and notable juniors in the field. Blades Brown will look to continue his great summer after finishing third in the North & South Junior Amateur and ninth in the Western Junior. He also won the Tennessee Junior Amateur by 12 strokes, placed fifth in the Tennessee State Open, and has won three AJGA tournaments since April.
Other top golfers in the field include TK Chantananuwat, Yanhan Zhou, Eric Lee, Jaime Montojo Fernandez, Christopher Richards, Zihang Qiu, and Tommy Morrison.
THE COURSE
South Carolina is hosting the Junior Amateur for the fourth time, but this will be the first USGA championship at Daniel Island Club, a 4,000-acre property that is just north of historic downtown Charleston between the Cooper and Wando Rivers.
Daniel Island Club’s Ralston Creek Course, which was designed by Rees Jones, will be set up as a 7,367-yard, par-72 layout and will be used for match play and stroke play. The Tom Fazio-designed Beresford Creek Course will serve as the stroke-play co-host and will play to 7,039 yards and a par 71.
