2020 Porter Cup cancelled due to COVID-19

The latest victim of the virus is a major of amateur golf that had been played every year since 1959

The Porter Cup has canceled its 2020 playing due to COVID-19. In a press release, the Porter Cup announced that there will not be a Cup played at Niagara Falls Country Club for the first time since 1959. With the women’s Cup scheduled for June 3-5 and the men’s Cup to be held July 22-25, the Porter Cup adds itself to a long list of cancelled tournaments. With the latest cancellation, the list of men's amateur majors continues to shrink, elevating the status of those that remain. Although the Porter Cup is cancelled, the Senior Porter Cup is still a full go. Taking place on September 2-4, the 2020 Senior Porter Cup will still be held. Last year, Aiden Didone, Jackie Rogowicz, and Doug Hanzel won the men’s, women’s, and senior Porter Cups. Hanzel will be the only one who gets to defend his six-shot victory in the Senior Porter Cup.
