2015 Goodwin Intercollegiate Preview: Massive field set to play Stanford

A huge, 24-team field will begin play at The Goodwin Intercollegiate starting Thursday at Stanford University Golf Course

PALO ALTO, Calif. — A huge, 24-team field will begin play at The Goodwin Intercollegiate starting Thursday at Stanford University Golf Course. The event, hosted annually by the Stanford University men's golf team, is sure to be one of the top-15 fields of the 2015 spring season. Along with the host Cardinal, seven other teams inside of the top-40, as ranked by Golfweek, will be on hand, including USC, SMU, TCU, Colorado, UAB, Oregon, and UNLV. This will be the first tournament the Cardinal have participated in since the Querencia Cabo Collegiate, where they placed fifth. Stanford sophomore Maverick McNealy already has a win in 2015 under his belt at The Prestige at PGA West and will look to lead his team to another top showing. Oregon will be fresh after hosting The Duck Invitational at Eugene Country Club, host of the 2015 Pacific Coast Amateur. The Ducks took fourth behind Arizona State, who captured their fourth win of the spring. They will not be in the field this week in Palo Alto. Eighteen holes will be played each day, beginning Thursday. The Stanford course stretches back just beyond 6,700 yards and is a par 70. Stanford is the defending champion, having won by 20 shots over USC a year ago.
