About the tournament
The U.S. Amateur Four-Ball was played for the first time in 2015 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco. The event has no age restriction, but each player on a side must have a Handicap Index of 2.4 or lower. It is one of 15 national championships conducted annually by the USGA.
Sides reach the championship through exemptions or 18-hole qualifying rounds held at sites across the country from late August through December of the preceding year. The championship itself opens with two rounds of stroke play, after which the low 32 sides advance to match play.
