LUFKIN, Texas (July 1, 2014) -- The Rockwall duo of Anna Schultz and Jewell Malick clinched its second WTGA State Four Ball championship Tuesday at Crown Colony Country Club.
Schultz, a two-time USGA national champion, and Malick shot rounds of 71-72 to win the championship by two shots. They led by one stroke over two teams after the first round.
Back-to-back birdies on the 13th and 14th holes in the final round gave Schultz and Malick the breathing room they needed to close out the victory. The powerhouse tandem also won the Texas Women's Four Ball title in 2008 at Cimarron Hills Golf and Country Club in Georgetown.
Austin's Beth Cleckler and Nancy Kromar tied for second place with Lecia Alexander from Stafford and Marlene Summers from Montgomery for second place. Both teams shot even-par 72s on Tuesday and finished at 145.
