West Team Wins 5th Kanza Players Cup

The West wins the Kanza Players Cup after a tight final day of matches

HUCHINSON, KS (May 19, 2016) - Once again the Kanza Players Cup came down to the wire and after the sides tied last year it was the West team emerging victorious in the 5th playing of the event with a 9-7 advantage. The sides began the day tied at 4-4 but a 5-3 advantage for the West team in singles pushed them over the top. Today's win now evened the all-time series tally at 2-2-1. The West team received singles victorious from Grant Vollertsen, Jack Courington, TJ Vilkanskas, Tyler Chapman and Pete Krsnich. The Kanza Players Cup is invitation only Ryder Cup style competition for the top point earning players on the previous year's Kansas Golf Association Mid-Amateur Player of the Year points list. Two teams of eight players each are divided into East and West squads which compete in Foursome, Four-Ball and Singles matches. Teams: East Team: Bradley Lane, Conrad Roberts, William Gantz, Jeff Bell, Michael Winkler, Gary Lucas, Michael Rack, Kit Grove. West Team: Zac Burton, Jack Courington, Spencer Christian, TJ Vilkanskas, Grant Vollertsen, Pete Krsnich, Tyler Chapman, Andrew King.
