Warman surges in final round for San Clemente title

Mark Warman got a second San Clemente City Amateur title on Sunday after a final-round 66

SAN CLEMENTE (Oct. 23, 2018) – Mark Warman won the San Clemente City Amateur on Sunday with a stellar final-round 66. Warman had to make up ground on Daniel Sullivan on Sunday, and he got to work right away.

Warman had five birdies in his first seven holes at San Clemente Municipal Golf Course. He had started the final round trailing Sullivan by three shots after Sullivan opened with 8-under 64 and Warman had 67. Sullivan, however, was 1 over after those same holes on Sunday.

Warman threw out his only bogey on No. 11, then followed with two more birdies to get to 66 and 11 under for the tournament. Sullivan came in with 2-under 70, and ultimately fell one shot short.

Warman is a former San Diego State player and a San Clemente native who won this event in 2016. Sullivan won the event in 2014.

Taylor Casper was third at 8 under after rounds of 66-70. Quentin Hill was fourth at 6 under after going 70-68.
