UNLV extends lead to eight at Mountain West Conference Championship

TUCSON, Ariz. — Kurt Kitayama, along with an overall team effort from the UNLV Rebels have the Las Vegas team up by eight shots entering Sunday's final round at the Mountain West Conference Championship. Playing OMNI Tucson National, a par-71, 7,100-yard course, the senior Kitayama has posted back-to-back rounds of six-under par 65 to lead the individual race by five strokes over Corey Eddings of second-place Nevada. Rebel players John Oda, Shintaro Ban, and Carl Jonson are all inside of the top-10. Nevada and San Diego State were tied for second place entering the second round but the Wolfpack edged ahead by three, leaving SDSU trailing the leading Rebels by 11. Nahum Mendoza is in third at 136 while Xander Schauffele is tied for fourth at 137 for the Aztecs.
