UCF's Ashley Holder leads The Sally after going 5-under

Holder takes a 3-stroke lead after the first round, while defending champion Sierra Brooks remains within striking distance

The 90th edition of the South Atlantic Women's Amateur, known as The Sally, got underway today at the Oceanside Country Club in Ormand Beach, FL. Ashley Holder of Orlando, a junior at the University of Central Florida, jumped out to a first-round lead by posting a 5-under par round of 67. Kaitlyn Papp, a junior golfer who plays for the Lake Travis (TX) Girls Golf Team, fired a 2-under 70 and stands alone in second place. Papp recently captured the American Junior Golf Association Girls Championship in September. Alexa Pano (Lake Worth, FL), Lin Culver (Palm Coast, FL) and Taylor Tomlinson (Gainesville, FL) are tied for third with rounds of 1-under 71. Defending champion Sierra Brooks carded a 2-over 73 and sits six shots behind Holder.
