U.S. Senior Women's Amateur: Karen Garcia one step closer to repeating, semifinals set

The semifinal winners will advance to Thursday championship match

WELLESLEY, MA (September 21, 2016) -- Just four players, including defending champion Karen Garcia, remain alive at the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur at Wellesley Country Club. Garcia, the 36-seed, won her quarterfinal match 7&5 over No. 21 Caryn Wilson. She will now face No. 25 Andrea Kraus who bested top-seed Judith Kyrinis in 21 holes. Kraus overcame a 2 down deficit early in the match to advance. The second semifinal match will feature No. 7 Laura Coble and No. 3 Ellen Port. Coble moved on thanks to a 3&2 triumph over two-seed Kim Eaton. For Port it was a 2&1 victory over six-seed Lisa Schlesinger. The two winners will advance to the championship match on Thursday.
