Two Man Links Championship wraps up at Cabot Cape Breton Resort

AG's third Two Man Links and Father & Son event of 2022 visited Nova Scotia, Canada and discovered more outstanding links golf

For our third venture into the world of wonderful North American links golf, AmateurGolf.com ventured -- with 40 of our closest friends -- to the gorgeous island of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to experience two of our newest favorite courses, Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs.

William Talley (Manakin Sabot, Virginia) and McClain Leberte (Roswell, Georgia) set the pace with a 3-under 67 in the first round under perfect conditions. The old friends stayed steady during the windier final two rounds to post 1-under 211 for the 54-hole event providing an 11-shot victory over Bob Tartaglia and Thomas Terril of Florida. "I'm really proud that we kept it at 1-under for the week in those conditions," said Talley, referring to the September winds that swept Cape Breton Island over the final two rounds. "We covered each other pretty well."

Indeed, Leberte posted an even par 70 in the first round, and his partner Talley helped him three shots despite having a handicap 9 shots higher than the former division one collegiate golfer who left his playing partners in awe with his prodigious length off the tee.

When Leberte birdied the final hole at Cabot Links, as the winds whipped and other players in the field headed inside the clubhouse for shelter, the under par total had been secured.

Tartaglia and Terril were awarded with the low overall net score at 1-under for 54 holes. Aaron and Bob Smith won the Father & Son gross total at 9-over, while Cory and Dave Bartlett represented Canada well by taking home the Father & Son net title. Mark Flynn and Mark Soltau won the Senior title.
