Past champion Christopher Wheeler made the biggest move of the second round at the Texas Mid-Amateur, firing a 6-under 65 to join John Hunter atop the leaderboard at Wichita Falls Country Club.
Wheeler, who opened with an even-par 71, made six birdies and an eagle against one bogey Saturday to reach 6-under 136. He played his final 13 holes in 6-under, including an eagle at the par-4 12th, and closed with a birdie at No. 18.
