Texas A&M, ranked No. 29 nationally, captured the Louisiana Classics team title with a 24-under 840 total (278-275-287), securing a seven-shot victory at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The win marked Texas A&M’s fifth Louisiana Classics title and fourth in the last five years, continuing a dominant run that previously included victories in 2018, 2022, 2023 and 2024. The Aggies entered the final round with an eight-shot lead and maintained control throughout the day to secure the championship.
Little Rock finished runner-up at 17-under (280-281-286).
The victory also marked Texas A&M’s third team title of the season, following wins at the Furman Intercollegiate in October and the Sea Best Invitational earlier this spring.
In the individual competition, Louisiana senior Malan Potgieter made tournament history by becoming the first player to repeat as the Louisiana Classics winner in the event’s 41-year history. The South African carded rounds of 65-67-69 to finish at 15-under 201, securing a three-shot victory. Last year, Potgieter captured the Louisiana Classics title in a playoff against LSU junior Alfons Bondesson of Sweden.
Middle Tennessee redshirt senior Carter Maneth finished runner-up at 12-under (70-66-68).
Texas A&M placed four players inside the top 15, led by senior Jamie Montojo, who finished T-8 at 6-under (70-69-71). Junior Kris Kuvaas (68-75-69), junior Aaron Pounds (70-68-74) and freshman Shiv Parmar, competing as an individual (69-69-74), all finished T-15.
Potgieter dominated statistically, leading the field in par-4 scoring at 12-under, four shots better than Texas A&M’s Alex Long, and recording 20 birdies, the most in the field.
Texas A&M also led the tournament in par-4 scoring at 14-under, ten strokes better than Lamar, while the Aggies tied Lamar for the most birdies in the field with 63.
