Tar Heel Invitational: Florida runs away with the title

In the individual competition, Maisie Filler of Florida won to secure the sweep for the Gators.

Florida used a hot start to cruise to a team title at the Tar Heel Invitational at Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Gators won by eight shots over Auburn, shooting 16-under and a final round 2-under. The Gators shot rounds of 280-282-286.

Auburn finished in second place at 8-under, shooting rounds of 291-284-281.

Florida and Auburn were the only two schools to finish under par.

North Carolina finished in third place at 6-over, Michigan State finished in fourth place at 7-over, and Kentucky finished in fifth place at 10-over.

In the individual competition, Maisie Filler of Florida completed the Gator sweep, shooting 13-under and winning by three shots over Casey Weidenfeld of Auburn.

Like the team, Filler got off to a great start, shooting an 8-under 64 in the first round. She made an eagle and six birdies in the bogey-free round. Filler held a two-shot lead and never looked back to secure her win.

Weidenfeld finished at 10-under and shot up the leaderboard in the final round, shooting a 7-under 65.

Monet Chun of Michigan finished in third place at 8-under, Laney Frye finished in fourth place at 7-under, and Kayla Holden of Tennessee finished in fifth place at 6-under.
