Swensen captures Brentwood City Amateur

by Jack Persons, AmateurGolf.com BRENTWOOD, Calif. (July 13, 2014) -- Brian Swensen cruised to a five-stroke victory on Sunday at the Brentwood City Amateur. He posted scores of four-under 67 at Deer Ridge Golf Club in the first round and one-over 72 at Shadow Lakes Golf Course on Sunday. AmateurGolf.com staff member Christian Nicolini gave Swensen a run for the title, but came up a little short. After a tough 77 to start the tournament, Nicolini caught fire on Sunday, shooting a four-under 67 to close, good for a two-over 144 total and solo second place. As Nicolini explained, the round could have been much lower, as he missed a handful of short birdie putts in the final round. Even so, his round was still the lowest posted on Sunday by five strokes.
