Stephen Hale, Corby Segal win SCGA Four-Ball in extra holes

Hale and Segal shot rounds of 67-65 and won the championship on the third playoff hole over Ethan Elleraas and Reed Arnaldo

Stephen Hale and Corby Segal clinched victory at the SCGA Four-Ball Championship in a playoff at Bakersfield CC. With a stellar overall score of 12-under 132 over 36 holes, Hale and Segal outlasted Ethan Elleraas and Reed Arnaldo as Hale drained the winning birdie putt on the third hole to secure the title.

Hale and Segal started the final round on Tuesday four strokes back of Elleraas and Arnaldo, who combined to shoot the championship-low round 9-under 63 on Monday.

Hale and Segal's first-round 5-under 67 had also been posted by two additional teams: Andrew Rodriguez / Joseph Gutierrez and Damon Krause / Tongun Lako LoSarah.

Hale and Segal shaved a stroke off their deficit through nine holes, with Hale contributing three birdies to the effort. The duo made up the remaining three strokes on the back, turning in a final-round 65 and setting the stage for the playoff.  

Krause/LoSarah and Rodriguez/Gutierrez tied for third at 11-under, along with Scotland Schmidt and Jack Townsend.
