Spanish Women's International Stroke Play: Sara Brentcheneff wins by five shots

Brentcheneff went wire-to-wire with a second-round 6-under 65 to win the championship.

Sara Brentcheneff of France shot 10-under 203 to win the Spanish Women’s International Stroke Play Championship at La Faisanera Golf in Segovia, Spain.

Brentcheneff secured the title with impressive rounds of 68-65-70, finishing a comfortable five strokes ahead of Spain's Alba Gonzalez Fernandez. Fernandez, on the other hand, posted rounds of 72-68-68 to finish solo second place with a total score of 5-under 208.

Ariane Klotz of France carded rounds of 69-70-70 for a solo-third finish at 4-under 209.

Brentcheneff entered the final round with a six-shot lead over the competition after carding rounds of 68-65 for a 36-hole total of 9-under 133. Meanwhile, Klotz, Blondie Persson Lindgren and Valerie Clancy followed with their matching 36-hole total of 3-under 139.

In her last round, Brentcheneff secured her victory with two well-timed birdies and a single bogey, finishing the round at 1-under 70 and concluding the tournament at an impressive 10-under par.

The win marked her fourth title of the season, solidifying her recent success after her victory at the Swiss Golf International Championship and adding another notable achievement to her impressive golfing career.

This year, Brentcheneff has competed in 15 events, clinching victory four times while also securing three additional top-10 finishes to her credit.

The tournament featured 51 women amateurs representing over 11 European countries, with the solitary Chinese player being Xinyi Gu.
