FIRST ROUND RECAP
Round one is in the books at the 17th Jack Hesler Tournament being hosted by Mission Resort & Club. It was a challenging day in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., as temperatures eventually reached the low 50s but felt much cooler during a few light rain showers. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for even cooler temperatures.
Derek Paton of Lundin Links in Fife, Scotland, holds the lead in the Senior Division after a sparkling 5-under round of 67. John Barry, of University Park, FL, is just one stroke behind after his own strong round of 4-under 68.
Paige Hood, of Atlanta, Ga., leads the Super Senior Division by three strokes after posting an even-par 72. James Pearson, of Charlotte, N.C., is in second place heading into round two tomorrow.
Robert Hess, of Casselberry, FL, has a one-stroke lead in the Legend Division over Pete Allen, of Southport, NC. Hess fired a 2-over 74 in the first round.
Finally, in the Super Legend Division, Sam Robinson of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., found red numbers himself, shooting 2-under 70. He leads John Osborn of Vero Beach, Fla., by five strokes.
