SOS Jack Hesler: Derek Paton keeps lead after second round canceled

Paton keeps his one shot lead heading into the final round as the second round was canceled due to inclement weather

FIRST ROUND RECAP

Round one is in the books at the 17th Jack Hesler Tournament being hosted by Mission Resort & Club. It was a challenging day in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., as temperatures eventually reached the low 50s but felt much cooler during a few light rain showers. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for even cooler temperatures.

Derek Paton of Lundin Links in Fife, Scotland, holds the lead in the Senior Division after a sparkling 5-under round of 67. John Barry, of University Park, FL, is just one stroke behind after his own strong round of 4-under 68.

Paige Hood, of Atlanta, Ga., leads the Super Senior Division by three strokes after posting an even-par 72. James Pearson, of Charlotte, N.C., is in second place heading into round two tomorrow.

Robert Hess, of Casselberry, FL, has a one-stroke lead in the Legend Division over Pete Allen, of Southport, NC. Hess fired a 2-over 74 in the first round.

Finally, in the Super Legend Division, Sam Robinson of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., found red numbers himself, shooting 2-under 70. He leads John Osborn of Vero Beach, Fla., by five strokes.
